“This city preys on the innocent. I know, that’s why I fight.
Why the hunted is now the Huntress.”

Back in Gotham after his worldwind trip, Batman has Nightwing, Robin, and Huntress stake out various locations in Gotham City, while he stakes out the Casino, looking for any spot where Ra’s al Ghul could release a new outbreak of the plague as a weapon.
This is a difficult lesson for Helena, and a bitter pill to know that Batman was right. There was nothing she could do for her student or anyone without the antidote. It’s why Batman has pushed so hard for everyone to stay focused on finding it. But when it comes to Helena’s kids, they pull at her heart strings in a way nothing else does. She’ll have to live with the knowledge that in Eric’s mind she let him die without doing anything, even though there was nothing she could do. That might be the harshest reality of all.
In Shadow of the Bat, Batman ordered Nightwing, Robin, and Huntress to keep the rioters at bay, and from spreading the plague, while he went after Poison Ivy, who was selling an “antidote” to the highest bidders.

While Batman works on a plan to get out, he wants to know everything David Said offered to Helena. She tells him the entire conversation.
I love that Helena is her own person. I love that she isn’t tic for tac. I love that she isn’t motivated by power. She could have it, the mob, Checkmate. It means nothing to her. I love that she’s comfortable with herself, she isn’t intimidated by Batman. I love that she reminded him of all the times she saved his life because he needs to be reminded. And I love that no matter how horribly Batman has treated her, she maintains her principles, marches to her own drums, and she wouldn’t think to sell him out. I’m grateful she told him all that and he didn’t have a choice but to listen. Thank you Scott Beatty!
Before they make their escape, and take out some of Checkmates guys, Batman ask Helena to take David Said up on his offer to be Checkmates Queen, only that she’ll be working for him too. Helena agrees, goes to Said and becomes his Queen!
SIDE NOTE: I couldn’t scan the entire dps so Thanks to justthesidekick for letting me use his/her scan!
Batman hasn’t used the old caves in ages and Checkmate’s coming in and Huntress isn’t all that confident in Batman abilities at the moment, especially considering nothing is working!
Alfred informs Batman that he is monitoring the situation on his end and realizes he is not alone. Poor Alfred!
Robin and Dr. Thompkins arrive at the secret Batcave to find some Checkmate pawns outside ready to inflitrate. Robin takes care of them. Batman tells him that everything has been compromised and to get Leslie to saftey. He and Huntress will handle things.
Helena comes to but isn’t familiar with her surroundings. Once again believing she’s been captured, she tussles with Batman. Eventually, she gains her senses and surroundings, he tells her he believes she’s been tagged with a transmitter. He wants to know about David Said but Helena initially plays coy because she doesn’t trust anyone at the moment. Batman tells her he’s trying to help her.
Batman says what he’s about to do will hurt but he can’t give her a local anesthesia and risk paralysing her arm since she’s going to need it. In the meantime Tim has gotten Dr. Leslie Thompkins and called Alfred to tell him where Bruce has taking Helena.
Batman tells Robin to go get Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Helena’s in no position to travel far, they’ll rendezvous at one of the old batcaves. Batman carries Helena away, promises he’ll take care of her. Since Checkmate has inserted a tracking device in Helena, David Said says check and mate and sends his men after Batman.
Helena runs out her apartment, presumably on her way to find Batman, except he found her first, literally crashes into her, knocking her unconscious. I love Tim here, and I’ve always loved and appreciated his loyalty to Helena.
Huntress drags the perp to others as Batman and Robin are flying off. She comes to the conclusion she doesn’t hunt in any pack and isn’t ready to do the teamwork stuff, preferring instead to do what feels natural and comfortable; hunting alone.
