Sal’s got a pull over Helena that’s beautiful and terrifying, especially when you consider he’s a murderer and usually the past catches up to us. Reformed or not, Sal’s got to have many “Helena’s” out there. Children, now adults, who’ve lost their entire childhoods because he and his father took them away, seeking the same revenge Helena once took.
She once explained her “understanding of [Sal] as my hero didn’t allow for him to be the villain in someone else’s story”. I imagine what Helena’s reaction would be if someone came calling. Despite having walked in those same shoes, Sal’s her everything and she’d do anything for him.
Helena has a new family now, the Birds of Prey. Like Sal, they’ve come to mean the world to her. She has a place to belong, friends, and sisters. All of which she’d undoubtedly protect because like with Sal, she needs them. Wouldn’t it make for good storytelling to find Huntress in the middle her new family colliding with her old one?
